Opportunity:
An opportunity exists in PSG-Project Services Global, ON, Canada office for a highly motivated Principal Quantity Surveyor / Estimating Engineer, to join our multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing mentorship to junior and intermediate staff. Stakeholder management, interdisciplinary coordination, communication is required soft skills towards developing and maintaining new and existing clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Stakeholder management & participation in business development
- Setup Standards & Procedures; Estimate development for all types (0-5); Unit Rate / Productivity Analysis; Location Factor development; Pre & Post contract cost management at various stages of tendering, Procurement management, Change management, Benchmarking & Risk analysis.
- Providing accurate financial control, analysis of drivers, and timely reporting Considerable experience of successfully delivery of Greenfield & Brownfield Environment,
- Act as the main client liaison for the NRC in the delivery and coordination of each call-up.
- Provide senior input into the project requirements and review all deliverables.
- Ensure estimate is completed on time, on budget, and within scope.
- Provides guidance and recommendations in a project set up by reviewing associated information and ensuring appropriate set up in the system.
- Ensures internal consistency, completeness, and accuracy of project data including but not limited to accruals, revenue, and cost budgets, EAC updates, invoicing, and project costs across a volume of line items included in the assigned Program Management Office.
- Work with multiple Project Managers and the cost team to agree/discuss project status including contract values and assist Program Team in the determination of monthly updates to cost budgets.
- Quality Control – Ensuring compliance with quality standards and participation in audits.
- Review contract terms and associated information; ensuring contracts are setups are correct.
- Summarizes projects for status including contract values, estimates to completion for the Program Controls Director and Client leader
- Ensure, Knowledge management, standard procedures, best practices, and techniques throughout all phases of the project.
- Provide strong technical mentorship to junior and intermediate mechanical engineers and technologists.
- Conduct peer reviews of engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications within the team.
- Interfacing with the client and other consultants, at all project stages.
- Identifying and acting upon opportunities to improve cost management procedures, templates, and products and hence improve the service provided to clients
Capabilities and Credentials
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering.
- Minimum of 10-15 years of experience
- Thorough understanding and application of cost management functions within a program control environment
- Excellent leadership skills
- Experience of working within the consultancy sector.
- Experience of working in the Canadian construction market.
- Ability to interface with cross-functional teams.
- Effective communication within the team and with stakeholders
- An experienced user of the relevant Program tools, techniques
- Demonstrated technical writing skills, capable of writing reports, proposals, letters, and technical specifications.
- Proven success in developing new business with existing clients and maintaining positive relationships.
- Good organization, coordination, and project management skills to maintain project schedules and budgets.
- Ability to bring a wide variety of stakeholders together to meet tight deadlines.
- Good verbal communication and soft skills.
- The ability to work in English and French is considered an asset.
